On this week’s GridCastU where athletes, coaches, and personalities from around the GRID help U become better at GRID we interview Christen Wagner from the Baltimore Anthem. Christen is no slouch. She simultaneously works for the Marine Corps and the Baltimore Anthem, goes to school full time for nursing, and she was just on 12 Labours CrossFit team that placed in the top 10 at the 2015 Reebok CrossFit Games. When she competes you see the fire in her eyes, the passion she has for what is in front of her, and she is aggressive with her entire life. The fire inside is unique when it comes to Christen and it is only shared among the very top athletes in their individual sports.
For Wagner, the mental aspect of the sport is the most important, and the focus she gives any part of her life was a learned habit from her military training. However, you can find intense focus yourself. Because she dedicates her full attention to the task at hand it gives her a mental break from her other commitments, thus leaving her 100 percent ready to attack the next activity.
Christen always strives to be better and feels like she needs to keep pushing to be at the level of the athletes that surround her. This mentality is what keeps her at the top of her game. Hear her in her own words here and let’s start a discussion on social media.
Until next time, clean up your jerks and snatches, drink your beer in batches, and always dominate your GRID matches.
