Meet the Cast

ConanGC_biophotoConan Hosts the GridCast with the help of Tyler McQueen. The GridCast is their attempt to “fill in the gap” of information covering all things related to the sport of Grid.

Conan is also the co-owner and head coach at CrossFit Impavidus in Ashburn, VA. He spent over 25 years in public service as both a soldier and a cop. Along the way he rotated through many instructor/training assignments and truly grew to love teaching people. As a tactical fitness athlete he has attended some of the most rigorous military and law-enforcement training in the world. He came across CrossFit in 2006 and fell in love with the fitness methodology and the community. He and his buddy Jerry opened CrossFit Impavidus in 2010 and have grown it into a very successful gym.

Tyler is the videographer and editor of the GridCast, and while this means that most of his time is spent behind-the-scenes, he may make an appearance on the other side of the camera occasionally. Tyler was asked to join Conan and Danny on the GridCast team not only because of his experience as a professional photographer, but because he is a fan of Grid and proponent of functional fitness, just like them.
As a photographer, Tyler has utilized his talents for a number of non-profit organizations, all of which are in support of the military, and one of which promotes CrossFit for adaptive athletes. Tyler understands the transformative power of functional fitness, having undergone his own journey to overcome weight struggles. Graduating high school weighing in at 300 pounds, Tyler decided to make a substantial change during college. Through proper diet and “globo gym” exercise, Tyler lost 110 pounds and was even a collegiate athlete his junior and senior year. Tyler found CrossFit in 2012, became instantly hooked and immediately pursued his level 1 certification. While Tyler hopes to add to his list of certifications, start coaching and one day operate his own gym with hopes of encouraging others to change their lives and find a healthy balance, his primary fitness goal remains gaining “healthy” weight, adding 25 pounds so far and learning what his body is capable of.
Tyler is excited to be part of the GridCast team, not only having the opportunity to film the growth of the sport and league, but to learn and retell the different stories, strengths and struggles of the Grid athletes.
